According to the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) “means the principles and processes through which the prior knowledge and skills of a person are made visible, mediated and assessed for the purposes of alternative access and admission, recognition and certification, or further learning and development”. (SAQA, 2013)

Our aim is to make it possible to obtain formal recognition for knowledge gained throughout life, such as workplaces and own reading or experiences. Our RPL process also entails providing support to a candidate to ensure that knowledge is discovered and displayed in terms of a relevant qualification registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).

The Novia One Group (Pty) Ltd. is ideally placed to provide RPL and related specialist services to our client base as follows:

  • Audits of the existing skills base in the client organisation
  • Mapping of skills and competencies against relevant full and part qualifications and short courses, learning outcomes and assessment criteria
  • Provision of RPL for candidates against a range of learning programmes
  • Learning gap analysis post provision of RPL (gaps are closed inter alia via delivery of learning programmes both face to face and online)
  • RPL advisory for clients (capacity building and skills transfer)
